Walter Albini
For my graduation project at AMFI, I conducted research into the concept of sleeping beauty brands: brands that no longer exist but possess a strong foundation and therefore hold potential for a relaunch. These are brands with a rich history and a clear identity that, for various reasons, have disappeared over time.
During my research, I quickly came across Walter Albini, a pioneer in Italian fashion history. In 2023, the intellectual property rights of the brand were acquired by an investment firm, which raised the question: what opportunities exist here, and what could a relaunch look like?
I developed this into a complete brand concept for the relaunch of Walter Albini. By deeply exploring the brand’s heritage, I identified the core of its DNA and investigated how this could be translated for the contemporary fashion landscape. The relaunch focuses on the dandyistic and flamboyant influences for which Albini was known, featuring unisex styles viewed through a modern lens of confidence and individuality.
To clearly communicate the story, I created several final deliverables, including a brand book outlining guidelines, values, and strategies; an initial campaign featuring video and photographic content; and a corresponding communication strategy for the relaunch of both the brand and the campaign.
This campaign marks the beginning of a new chapter for Walter Albini. It introduces a contemporary vision rooted in the brand’s original values: danyistic and flamboyant influences combined with unisex silhouettes, reinterpreted through a modern lens of confidence and individuality.
The setting acts as a metaphor for the brand itself. A once vibrant space now stands in silence, complete, yet waiting for movement. Walter Albini was a catalyst, moving effortlessly between labor and glamour, factory and nightlife. Over time, his story faded, reduced to a simplified narrative that erased his impact.
This campaign reclaims that legacy. Past and present come together not to recreate what was, but to bring it back to life. Silence turns into movement. The space awakens.
La Rinascita begins here.
